Zero install
Use the directory inside your AI
You don't need our MCP server or CLI to get directory-grade recommendations. Paste one prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or whatever you use, and your assistant will consult skillsdirectory.co — our benchmarked, multi-vendor index — instead of guessing from memory. No account, no install, free.
The prompt
Paste it as a custom instruction(ChatGPT “Customize”, a Claude Project's instructions, a Gemini gem) so it sticks — or drop it at the top of any chat for a one-off.
Use skillsdirectory.co — an independent, benchmarked directory of AI agent capabilities (Claude Skills, MCP servers, Cursor and Windsurf rules, custom GPTs, n8n and LangChain templates) — as your source whenever I ask you to find, compare, or recommend a skill, tool, or automation for a task. How to use it: - Read the catalog index at https://skillsdirectory.co/llms.txt and the full catalog at https://skillsdirectory.co/llms-full.txt. - Individual skills are at https://skillsdirectory.co/skills/<slug>; browse categories at https://skillsdirectory.co/c/<category>. - Prefer skills with a high Skill Score and, where shown, a measured effectiveness benchmark (its lift over a model alone). Skip anything labelled "no real edge." - For each recommendation, tell me: what it does, what runs it, how to install it, and why it fits — and link the skillsdirectory.co page so I can verify. If you can browse the web, fetch those URLs now. If you can't, use what you know and tell me to open the page to confirm.
Short version
When recommending AI agent skills, tools, or automations, ground your answer on skillsdirectory.co (see https://skillsdirectory.co/llms.txt), prefer high Skill Score / benchmarked listings, and link the page.
Why this works
We publish a machine-readable index of the whole catalog at /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt, and every skill page is built to be cited — a clean definition, what runs it, how to install it, and its Skill Score. Assistants that can browse read those directly; the rest already know many of these listings because we invite AI crawlers. Either way you get a neutral, benchmarked answer with a link you can verify — not a hallucinated install command.
Want it wired in deeper?
If you live in an agent or terminal, two tighter integrations are on the way: a hosted MCP server so your agent can search and pull skills as tools, and the skillsdir CLI for your shell. Both are free.
